"Darling Duo" John Pond and Barbie Rogers.
Funds
raised in this function will enable some less
fortunate elderly people in Calcutta to regain their
vision impairment through cataract operations.
The
funds raised will be donated to "The Calcutta
Anglo-Indian Service Society" (CAISS) which in
conjunction with Dr. Saraf Jaipuria are undertaking
this compassionate project in Calcutta.
Our
roll was to coordinate the lunch invitations and
Raffle (surprise prize). Although our
involvement was minimum (as Audrey did all the work)
the 100 tickets for the Luncheon are sold out
and it is my understanding that all the raffle
tickets have already being sold prior to the
function therefore, it looks like it will be a great
fundraiser resulting in a greater number of cataract
operations.
Past
President David, Karen, President
Lou and Robyn will be attending and will
provide more information on the function and the
project.
Also, International Service Director Keith Henning
will be informing the Rotary Club of Calcutta about
the fundraiser and amount raised.
